Who is Johnny A?
I’m just a guy who got his brokerage license back in 1986. I have a degree in business and economics, but don’t let that fool you—the degree has little to do with understanding how the market actually works. I once owned my own OSJ brokerage office, hosted a financial radio show focused on stocks and the market and wrote a successful stock newsletter. And now, I’m back—thanks to my son, who inspired me to re-enter this space. He’s an active and insightful member of the meme stock community, raising sharp questions and offering perspectives that have sparked new realizations for me.
In this business, I’ve come to understand that market questions and the truth often have numerous contributing factors that shape outcomes. My goal here is to make you money by educating you on stocks and the market (while ignoring the “talking heads,” calling out the fear-mongering, and enjoying some laughs along the way). I no longer wear a tailored suit. These days, I’m a T-shirt and sneakers guy, focused on educating, entertaining, and enriching people who are seeking money and the truth.
So get ready to learn, have fun, and laugh. After all, what’s better than laughing all the way to the bank?
Dedicated to Truth!
The plain truth is that the financial world is difficult, and often it’s impossible to find the truth! Ask yourself. What sells? It’s FEAR AND GREED. It doesn’t matter if you’re watching financial TV news or reading a financial article, most are journalists, and their job is to sell the story. Remember, headlines are people trying to sell their story ( add space, financial news). The financial world PREYS ON FEAR and TAKES ADVANTAGE OF greed and ignorance. Let’s face it. The market can be an extremely emotional game. Filled with highs and lows, we aim to increase the highs and limit the lows. BY TEACHING WHAT’S GOING ON. By providing information that will help you navigate why something happens and when it happens. We aim to neutralize the emotions. So leave your ego at the door and wear some deep-pocketed jeans (for the Benjamins). Sit back in your chair as we aim to turn the investment world upside down. Your days of fear and intimidation are over. I exist to serve you, inspire you, teach you, keep your emotions in check, and make you laugh. The Talking Heads segment breaks down how journalists and financial TV instill fear. We will break it down and have fun along the way. We do have a few rules, though. What follows is a disclaimer that the lawyers made us write, but one that’s aimed to protect you as much as it does our humble fun factory of financial truth.
What we do:
Stock Newsletter: We are always looking for big winners (important to read below, if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen).
Tidbits: A service that educates and keeps you in the know.
Talking Heads: A fun podcast that helps educate, separates truth from reality, and helps minimize emotional decisions by educating you about what is happening.
Inspire: Don’t dream what you want to do. Do what you dream. Living is about memories, not dreams. And there is always a place for another good memory.
About Me
My name is shaped by my past. I’m not a perfect person, and I know there will be critics—there always are. I’ve found that people who spread hate are often more dissatisfied with themselves than with those they target.
I was born in 1960 in a small town in Pennsylvania. My father worked in a factory, and my mother was a nurse. I graduated from college in 1985 with a degree in business and economics, moved to Florida, and became a stockbroker in 1986. By 1990, I owned my own brokerage office (OSJ). That same year, I met my beautiful (now former) wife, and we moved to Arizona, believing it would be a good place to raise children.
I’ve suffered from severe allergies since childhood and was eventually diagnosed with chronic sinusitis. For the pain, I was prescribed OxyContin (bad call, Doc). Dependence and addiction followed, leading to unintended mistakes and, ultimately, to an arrest. Within 30 days of being taken into custody, I had a heart attack. No one, including the medical staff, believed me or treated me for it. I was given ibuprofen and sent back to my holding cell. Over the next two weeks, my weight ballooned by over 20%. When I told medical staff that I couldn’t breathe, they finally performed a chest X-ray, which revealed bilateral pneumonia. I was essentially drowning in my own fluids because my heart couldn’t pump the fluid out of my system; I was in heart failure. I was rushed to the hospital and had open-heart surgery while incarcerated. I was lucky—most would not have survived those two weeks.
While in prison, I dedicated myself to rebuilding my life and cleaning up the wreckage caused by my dependence. This site was inspired by my son and is dedicated to my children—my incredibly bright daughter and son—and to their wonderful, brilliant mother. My former wife gave me the greatest gift I’ve ever received: my children. This site is for them and for those looking to learn and create opportunities.
Tidbits
The tidbits we publish are extremely useful! They can help educate you and remove emotions from decisions. They are text messages sent on current conditions (positive and negative), what to expect in the market (whether it will go up or down in the near term), current conditions in a stock we might cover, market conditions of why the market is going down, or what to expect in the future, to name a few. We aim to educate you and remove the emotion by providing information on why and what we perceive (let’s face it, emotional decisions are rarely the correct decisions). (We know the most money is made by buying a stock, not chasing it) (although there is money to be made in momentum, which we will cover.).
Newsletter
So, what makes a stock “good”? Simple—the one that goes up, right? That’s exactly what we look for. It could be a high-growth AI stock with rapidly increasing revenue or a beaten-down stock with the potential to double. In short, we’re after stocks that can make us money. We believe the biggest win comes from buying at the right time. Chasing a stock is never wise—you don’t want to be left holding the bag when the music stops.
Talking Heads
Is there a podcast about what journalists have written or what someone has said on a televised financial news program that we don’t quite agree with? We will break it down into how we feel it is incorrect and can instill fear, and greed, which can lead to bad decision-making. And we will have a few laughs along the way.
